HISTORY
DakotAbilities was incorporated as United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) in 1966. We began
providing services to individuals in 1975.
In 1990, we ended our affiliation with the national United Cerebral Palsy Association and
changed our name to Community Disability Services.
In 1996, we changed our name to DakotAbilities to better reflect the character and
aspirations of the people we serve.
TODAY
DakotAbilities provides Residential Services to approximately 112 people at 14
separate locations in Sioux Falls, SD. We own eight Residential Facilities, and
our clients own or rent at six locations. Learn More

CERTIFICATION/ACCREDITATION
We are certified as an Adjustment Training Center by the South Dakota Department of Human Services,
Division of Developmental Disabilities.
In 2006, our service continuum received national accreditation by the Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL).
We are also an approved education service provider through the South Dakota Department of Education.
STAFF
We employ nearly 200 people full and part-time. The majority of our staff work directly
with clients. Professional staff include Case Managers, Skills Specialists, Nurses
and Residential Managers.
